| Iron Ore Project
Kanjamalai in Salem and Kavuthimalai and Vediappanmalai in Thiruvannamalai Districts of Tamil Nadu have low grade iron ore deposits . Mine able reservwes at Kanjamalai is estimated @ 75 million tonnes and at Kavuthimalai and Vediappanmalai @ 35 million tonnes. Tamil Nadu Iron Ore Mining Corporation Ltd. (TIMCO) a joint venture company of TIDCO and Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Limited is implementing the iron ore project at Kanjamalai , Salem District and at Kavuthimalai, Vediappanmalai at Thiruvannamalai Districts at a project cost of Rs.400 crores.
TIMCO is taking necessary steps to get the following approvals/clearances from State and Central Government for mining activities:
- Mining lease under Mineral Concession Rule 1960 from Department of Mining, Government of India
- NOC under Air & Water Act/from Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.
- Clearance from Ministry of Forest under Section (2) of Forest (Conservation) Act 1980 for carrying out mining activity in the reserved forests.
