Mahindra World City Developers Limited (MWCDL), formerly known as Mahindra Industrial Park Limited, an associate sector company of Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO) has developed a World Class industrial complex at an estimated project cost of Rs 280 crores. The project area covers 1307 acres, which includes 3 product specific Special Economic Zones (SEZ) such as IT, Auto and Apparel. Apart from SEZ area the project area also contains non–SEZ areas, residential and social infrastructure. The park’s World Class facilities have attracted investments from leading Multinational and Indian companies such as Infosys Technologies, BMW, B Braun, Nera Electronics, TTK Group, TVS Group, etc. The company is also developing a Multi-product SEZ with additional 1980 acres.
In Mahindra World City the employment potential is expected to touch 50000 direct and 50000 indirect jobs by 2012. The overall investments by all the companies in Mahindra World city is also expected to reach Rs.5000 crores (US $ 1 billion) in next 4-5 years. The expansion through Multi-product SEZ will attract further investment of Rs.9000 crores (US $ 2 billion) from leading companies and the employment oppurtunities may also go up to more than 100000 people.
The company has planned 325 acres for residential, business support & social amenities.
