IT- SEZ IN TARAMANI, CHENNAI – SIGNING OF JV AGREEMENT BETWEEN TIDCO AND DLF LIMITED IN PRESENCE OF HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER OF TAMIL NADU

Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO) and DLF Limited (DLF) have agreed to jointly develop a state of the art Information Technology Special Economic Zone (IT SEZ) on 26.64 acres at Taramani, in Chennai’s IT hub on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Old Mahabalipuram Road).

  • The investment in the project would be around Rs 1500 crores and the IT SEZ would ultimately generate direct employment to about 45,000 persons, and indirect employment to another 10,000.

  • The project would be implemented in two phases, with a first phase of 2.5 million sft being ready by end 2009. The entire project of around 4.50 million sft would be completed by 2011.

  • DLF is India’s largest real estate developer with over 224 million sft of completed development. It is already active in Tamil Nadu, presently developing a large IT SEZ of 7.50 million sft over 41 acres at Manapakkam, and two modern Retail Malls in strategic locations of Chennai. Also on the anvil are plans to develop mega townships in Sholinganallur and Sriperumbudur.

  • The JV agreement for the IT SEZ at Taramani was signed by Thiru S. Ramasundaram, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director TIDCO and Thiru K.P. Singh, Chairman, DLF Limited in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi. Thiru Durai Murugan, Hon’ble Minister for Public works and Law was present on the occassion

  • Thiru L.K. Tripathy, IAS, Chief Secretary, Thiru K. Gnandesikan, IAS, Secretary Finance Department, Thiru M.F. Farooqui, IAS, Secreatry, Industries Department, Dr. C. Chandramouli, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology Department, Thiru R.N. Singh, Senior Advisor, DLF Limited, Thiru J. Subramanian, Executive Director, DLF Limited, Thiru Ramesh K. Swamy, Sr. Vice President DLF Limited and Thiru K.K. Raman, Head – Homes, DLF Limited, were also present.
